Publication Fees

RIIS charges no fees to authors or readers.

There are no submission fees.
There are no article processing charges (APCs).
There are no peer review, language editing, page, colour figure or supplementary material charges.
There are no access, subscription or reading fees. All content is immediately and freely available.

Journal funding

The costs of editing, production, platform maintenance, DOI registration and digital preservation are met in full by Escola Superior de Saúde Norte da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa through its Research and Development Unit. The journal accepts neither advertising nor sponsored content, and establishes no link whatsoever between editorial decisions and financial considerations.

Copyright and licensing

Authors retain copyright in their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), permitting sharing and reuse, including for commercial purposes, provided that authorship and the original source are credited.
