Research Data and Data Availability Policy

RIIS promotes transparency, reproducibility and reuse of research by encouraging the sharing of the data underpinning published findings, in line with the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable).

1. Data availability statement

All manuscripts must include, before the references, a Data Availability Statement. Acceptable wordings include:

  • The data supporting the findings are available in [repository] under the identifier [DOI/accession].
  • The data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
  • The data cannot be shared publicly for reasons of personal data protection or participant consent.
  • No new data were generated in this study.

2. Repositories

Deposit in certified institutional or subject repositories that assign persistent identifiers is recommended — for example Zenodo, Dryad, figshare, the Open Science Framework, or institutional repositories within RCAAP.

3. Sensitive data

Data involving identifiable personal or clinical information must be anonymised or pseudonymised in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Where sharing is not possible, the restriction must be justified in the availability statement.

4. Data citation

Datasets used or produced must be cited in the reference list, with authorship, title, repository, year and persistent identifier.

5. Supplementary materials

Instruments, interview guides, protocols, reporting checklists (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, COREQ, SQUIRE, among others) and analysis code should be submitted as supplementary material whenever they support the assessment and reproducibility of the study.
